AI is not a strategy

Post date :

We see it everywhere:
โ€œ๐Ž๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ฒ? ๐ˆ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐€๐ˆ.โ€

No. Thatโ€™s not a strategy.
Thatโ€™s a tool looking for a purpose.

The real question is WHY AI?
โ†’ To improve customer experience?
โ†’ To reduce cost?
โ†’ To grow revenue?
โ†’ ...

Thatโ€™s (could be) your strategic objective. AI is just a means (out of many different ones).

Too many teams fall in love with their initiatives: Metaverse 3 years ago, AI today, Quantum computing tomorrow? They execute hard. They are very busy.

But busy doesn't mean impactful. As Henry David Thoreau said: โ€œIt is not enough to be busyโ€ฆ what are we busy about?โ€

The shift:

  • Donโ€™t be a Strategic Initiative Doer.

  • Be a Strategic Objective Achiever. Focus on the expected strategic outcomes. Kill what doesnโ€™t move the needle.

Otherwiseโ€ฆ Youโ€™re just partying on the AI boat. ๐Ÿพ
